Aquacomputer’s controllers are designed and built in Germany. Physically, Corsair’s controllers are plastic Chinese junk. Once they are configured they can operate without Aquasuite running, so you can configure them in Aquasuite then shut the app down if you want. Aquacomputer controllers have dedicated microcontrollers in them. The other thing to consider is that Corsair’s controllers are pretty “dumb” in that they depend on icue to do a lot of things. Aquacomputer’s RGBpx platform is very good but there are some things you can do easily in icue that cannot be done in Aquasuite. For RGB control, icue is really unmatched. It has many features and capabilities that Corsair does not offer at all. Aquasuite is the choice of serious custom loop builders for a reason. The program is rock solid and runs one service, not 3 or more like icue.Ĭorsair fan curve control is very basic and no where near as capable as Aquacomputer’s Aquasuite. Aquasuite also puts some load on the system but not as much as icue. Don’t believe me? Go read the Corsair icue forums.

It seems to be the never ending game of whack-a-mole with them. It may have gotten better recently but their forum is still full of complaints about how much resource it uses and there are many threads full of bug reports. Works great, very stable, and very low resource usage. I gave up on iCue long ago and use a program called SIV to control my Commander Pros, Lighting Node Pros and Lighting Node Cores. Get an NZXT or Aquacomputer internal USB2.0 hub. You will likely have problems as I and many many others have. Corsair Commander Pro is ok but don’t bother trying to use the 2 USB ports on it. I have used Corsair extensively in my last 2 Intel builds. I got 6 fans + pump (though I use that at static speed to contain noise).

Given I already broke the piggy bank to buy the upgrade, I'd like to not overspend on something else if I can help it. I used the RGB headers on my board and ended up turning the whole thing off, I enjoy the dark much better, so that's not a consideration. I can buy a Commander pro for like $90, and the Core for like $60, but I haven't been able to see if I can use the temp sensor to control fan speeds and just how good the fan controller is over all. If I wanted to play it safe, I'd go with the Quadro or the Octo, but those are pretty expensive when adding shipping + taxes to my country (over $150+ for the Quadro).

I know there's these options from what I can gather: Corsair Commander Pro, Aqua Computing Quadro/Octo and the newly released Corsair Commander Core. The thing is, I decided to upgrade to Alder Lake and the only board I managed to get that isn't an arm and a leg here in my country (Asus TUF Z690) doesn't have a temp sensor. I've been using Argus Monitor along with the temp sensor on my board for the better part of a year (after properly configuring the fan curve to the coolant temp).
